Portland Trail Blazers 80's Night AR Filters and Motion Graphics

CLIENT: Portland Trail Blazers (as an employee)

YEAR: 2019

The 2019-2020 season of the Portland Trail Blazers was the 50th season of the NBA franchise. To celebrate, there were 5 games designated to celebrate each decade of its existence. I was tasked with creating AR filters and pumpers (to pump up the arena crowd). I was given creative freedom to research, concept, and execute. These were some of the graphics created for 90's night. AR filters were created using Spark AR, Cinema 4D, and Adobe Illustrator.

Ditigally created facepaint. Left side of face is red with a white cloud on the cheek. Right side of face is white.
80's promo with the text "Clyde the Glide Dexter"

Clyde "The Glide" Drexler was a beloved player in the 80's. The poster on the left (created by a talented artist in the 80's) served as the inspiration for the filter on the right. I recreated the lettering, and added a cloud to tie in the theme of Clyde Drexler gliding through the clouds.

In 1989, Pizza Hut sold these fun "solar shades" to promote the release of Back to the Future 2. I found the above ad in my research and that was all she wrote. Who can say no to this nonsense?

One video is worth 1.8 million words, when you use motion design you are reaching significantly more people. The key is to catch people’s attention and have them slow their scroll, which will increase your sales, and build trust and engagement with your brand.
